I have written a blog post on this which may be useful also. The BIOS could see the drive, so it wasn't dead! Also ran Malware bytes and it also checked out with no errors or viruses. So I did shake it, but to no avail.

Unfortunately I found through experience that pulling USB-mounted memory out of the computer without using the "Eject" command WILL eventually corrupt it. Putting the drive inside a ziplog bag _before_ putting it in the freezer is equally pointless, because condensation will not form on a drive that is _hotter_ than the surrounding air.
